Job Description:
Summary:
Assist the Assistant Maintenance Manager in the administration of maintenance activities, particularly with respect to the efficient, safe and economical performance of the assigned missions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist the Assistant Maintenance Manager in the daily operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Assume his responsibilities in his absence.
• Manage and supervise a large group of skilled craftsman in an efficient, safe and economical manner in completing tasks required of a productive operation.
• Review and recommend long range planning to the Assistant Maintenance Manager.
• Implement and preserve the integrity of sound maintenance practices on equipment through preventative maintenance programs and procedures.
• Be responsible for all equipment maintenance activities, including keeping proper records, overseeing capital purchases and controlling numerous open purchase order accounts.
• Establish standards of reliability of all cranes, vehicles and other related equipment and set goals to achieve them.
• Write specifications for purchase of new equipment such as cranes, tractors, vehicles, or forklifts.
• Establish and maintain a proper system of ordering and storing of spare parts that is most economical and maximizes profitability.
• Ensure environmental and safety compliance in accordance acceptable standards.
• Assume responsibilities of duty manager on weekends or nights as needed.
Specifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering is desired or minimum of five (5) years experience in the management of maintenance, repair, and/or assembly of equipment.
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a superintendent in a maintenance environment is required.
• Experience in the electrical and/or mechanical maintenance of cranes and other heavy equipment.
• Established knowledge of preventive maintenance and repair practices and procedures.
• Proficient in the use of personal computer including spreadsheet, database and word processing programs.
• Proven background in the supervision and management of a large workforce of skilled craftsman is required.
