Our client is seeking a hands-on Cost Accounting Manager (newly created position) to join their Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding and directing all cost accounting and reporting activities.
You will work under the guidance of the Finance Director, will operate with independent thinking and creativity and work as a team to improve the company reports and perception/confidence in the companys inventory.
The successful candidate will be responsible for applying principles of Cost Accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems. Plans study and collects data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor. Analyzes data obtained and records results. Analyzes and ensures the accurate recording of inventory costs and margins. Reviews and analyzes Sales Order and Work Order costing. Develops Inventory variance reports and reporting procedures. Cycle Account review and assistance. Analyzes changes in product grade, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs. Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services. Provides continuous review of current processes for improvement opportunities. Supports and participates in any additional projects deemed necessary.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
A minimum of 5 years cost accounting experience is required. The maximum experience would be approximately 10 years.
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control procedures.
Strong analytical skills ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports.
Must have excellent system skills, Microsoft Excel and JD Edwards preferred or large ERP system experience.
Manufacturing, inventory experience required with preference given to candidates with experience from a weighted average costing environment.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team,
Must have process improvement focus.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and review cost and margin reports.
Review and investigate cost changes.
Review inventory adjustments, ensuring proper valuation and costing of inventory.
Review and reconcile inventory receipt accruals.
Analysis and implementation of cost accounting methods and procedures.
Identify opportunities for process and cost improvements.
