Senior SAN/Storage Engineer
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for providing business critical support for a 24x7 enterprise SAN/Storage (EMC, Cisco MDS) production environment. Major Duties -Perform general SAN administration, monitoring and performance tuning of a SAN network supporting IBM P-series, Sun Solaris and HP Linux systems connecting to EMC Symmetrix and Clariion Storage.
• Maintain the reliability, availability, security and performance of the SAN/Storage environment.
• Work collaboratively with other IT Support Teams to design, install and implement IT solutions to fit the business’ computing requirements.
• Provide break/fix support of associated hardware, software, and operating code. Coordinate support provided by 3rd party vendors.
• Maintain system performance by pro-active monitoring and trending the utilization of storage resources. Maintain system reliability and availability by managing storage sub-system updates and patches.
• Responsible for storage system services, configurations, Replication/cloning scripting/programming, and the development of tools to manage the environment.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in computer science, management information systems or related field or equivalent experience.
• Five to ten years of experience in Information Technology industry, including two to five years of experience in an Information Technology consulting or senior role.
• Five to ten years experience with advanced network storage concepts and solutions (SANs).
• Five + years working in a Large Scale EMC Storage environment
• Advanced knowledge of SAN Storage as it pertains to AIX, Solaris and Linux systems.
• Experience with IBM Pseries LPARs
• Experience with large server/storage migration/consolidation efforts within multiple datacenter environments
• Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) with all levels of internal and external customers.
